Q: Will there be any problems with the NRG if it is operated at a temperature of 70 degrees C?

Although 70°C is above the NRG’s rated operating range, the charger’s overtemperature protection system will protect the charger by reducing current limit to a safe level. At around 70°C the NRG can produce about 50% of its rated output current. While the NRG will not suffer catastrophic failure at this extreme temperature, its lifetime will be shortened because electronic components experience reduced life when operated above their rated temperature.

Q: Can two NRG 10A or 20A battery chargers be operated in parallel?

Yes, two NRG 10A or 20A battery chargers can be operated in parallel, but doing so will not cut recharge time in half because customers typically parallel NRGs to achieve redundancy rather than pure speed. For the most stable operation, SENS recommends enabling boost mode on one NRG and disabling it on the other, since having boost enabled on both could cause odd switches between float and boost during part of the recharge cycle. This behavior would not damage the battery, but it could appear unpredictable or incorrect to an attentive operator watching the status LEDs.
