2025: Innovation at Scale

In a recent whitepaper, our former CEO Bill Kaewert detailed the "Perfect Storm" facing the grid - a convergence of rising demand and retiring generation that threatens reliability across the board.

At SENS, we've long believed that meeting modern energy infrastructure challenges requires more than just quality components. It demands continuous commitment to innovation where critical power infrastructure is precision-engineered in the factory, not pieced together in the field.

In 2025, that approach continued to define us. Here's how innovation shaped our year.

The PowerCab®2: A platform for scalePowerCab2 building in progress

The market made it clear: putting components together on a construction site is slow and risky. Customers needed an all-in-one answer. The factory integrated PowerCab2 delivered exactly that, allowing facilities to bypass complex on-site integration and ongoing troubleshooting for a faster, more efficient, and safer rollout. 

This platform also supported a transition in energy storage. This year, the majority of our PowerCab™2 systems leveraged Sodium Metal Chloride (salt) batteries. For mission-critical environments, salt offers operators greater safety and reliability than traditional chemistries.

Hyperscale collaboration

The PowerCab2’s flexibility led to one of our most significant collaborations of the year. During a factory visit, a hyperscaler client watched a test on a loose-component system. As they observed the labor involved - muscling heavy batteries into racks and managing intricate wiring - their team recognized a strategic opportunity to streamline their own operations.

They partnered with our engineering team to adapt the PowerCab2 platform into a standardized "hyperscale" configuration. By moving that complex integration work from the field into our factory, we established a new level of consistency and speed for their global infrastructure.

 

SENS solutions are deployed in more than 80% of the hyperscale and colocation data centers in the United States.

 

As we explored in a recent article, Data Centers: A Problem For The Grid Or An Opportunity?, the industry is now well aware that data centers must evolve from passive power consumers into active partners that help stabilize the grid.

Simplifying genset starting with the SuperTorque® 8R

We saw some customers frustrated by the complexity of traditional engine starting setups. This is why with the launch of the SuperTorque 8R in August, we applied that same integrated philosophy. By consolidating batteries, chargers, and disconnects into a single, pre-wired system, the SuperTorque 8R helps facilities cut their footprint by nearly 90% and eliminates the maintenance burden of conventional lead-acid batteries.

Our integrated systems have been proven in the toughest conditions. Our SuperTorque® 8Z system delivered massive reliability gains for Girtz Industries, outlasting traditional batteries six-to-one in punishing testing conditions.

Growing to meet demand

We shipped nearly 70% more product in 2025 than in 2024, and we scaled to meet customer demand. Our manufacturing footprint expanded in Colorado, with more capacity already planned for 2026. Our team grew 50% year-over-year to match the demand and maintained the quality and execution that defines SENS. We're grateful to everyone who made it happen.
