SENS (Stored Energy Systems LLC), a leading manufacturer of engine generator set (gen set) and industrial / utility stationary battery chargers, today announced that it has achieved IBC Seismic Certification for its chargers and best battery selectors. SENS chargers and battery selectors are believed to be the only products in their respective classes to achieve this critical certification.

 

All 50 states have adopted the IBC (International Building Code) at either the state or local level as the prevailing building code law in the United States. The IBC codes require key mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) systems in critical buildings to withstand significant seismic events and still operate properly.

 

SENS partnered with The VMC Group and nationally recognized Clark Dynamic / ANDI Test Laboratory to certify its LC, FC/A, NRG, and IQ lines of battery chargers and its BBS 1600 and 4800 best battery selectors. All products are certified to an S_ds value of 2.28 g. Shake table testing followed by verification of correct product operation provided the basis for the certifications. When installed properly, SENS products are now certified to operate in any type of installation from below ground level to rooftops in all 50 states. The only limitations to this certification are in applications within a four-mile radius of Sikeston, Missouri – the area with the highest mapped ground accelerations in the country.

SENS will supply a Certificate of Compliance to engineers upon request showing that its chargers and best battery selectors meet applicable seismic criteria. It will also label each product to allow inspectors to verify seismic code compliance.
